The "Mediterranean" University of Reggio Calabria
The "Mediterranean" University of Reggio Calabria, founded in 1982, is composed of 6 Departments in the areas of Engineering, Agricultural Science, Architecture and Law. It has about 7000 students in total and more than 70 didactic or research laboratories.
It is a young and dynamic public institution that keeps strong connections within its socio-economic context while looking for internationalization. Its strength lies in its integrated range of disciplines that result in interesting opportunities for interdisciplinarity in research and teaching.
The Mediterranean University is partner of many initiatives of EUA (European University Association). It has signed numerous partnership agreements with other European and third Universities within mobility and cooperation programs.
The Department of Information, Infrastructures and Sustainable Energy (DIIES) is the reference for research and teaching in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field, with focusing on Nanotechnology, Microelectronics, Energy, Security and Domotics. Since 2012, the Department has worked in national scientific projects up to 40M€ in ICT and Sustainable Energy field.
The Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory of DIIES Dept. has always worked in the field of characterization of micro- and nano-structured materials for electronics, optoelectronics and sensor applications. In this context, the laboratory has developed specific skills and knowledge in nanotechnologies and their integration with other key enabling technologies.
